About Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. It’s a month of prayer, reflection and community, and each day’s fast ends at sunset with iftar.

The date for 2028 is only listed once it’s announced, because it depends on the moon being seen. Also in February 2027: Engineers’ Day (Luxembourg) (8 Feb), Shrove Tuesday (9 Feb) and National Pizza Day (9 Feb). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.

How we work out the date
Islamic months begin with the sighting of the new crescent moon, so the start is confirmed only the evening before. We show the expected date.
Good to know
Different countries and communities may begin a day apart, depending on the sighting they follow.
