About Eid al-Fitr

Eid al-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast, marks the end of Ramadan with morning prayers, new clothes, gifts and family visits.

The date for 2028 is only listed once it’s announced, because it depends on the moon being seen. Also in March 2027: International Women’s Day (8 Mar), National Blueberry Popover Day (9 Mar) and Teachers’ Day (Lebanon) (9 Mar). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.

How we work out the date
It’s the first day of Shawwal, which begins when the new crescent moon is sighted after Ramadan, so the date is expected until then.
Good to know
Communities may celebrate a day apart, depending on the sighting they follow.
