About Juneteenth

Juneteenth marks 19 June 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were told they were free. It became a federal holiday in 2021.

In 2027 it falls on a Saturday; in 2028 it’s on Monday 19 June, and in 2029 on Tuesday 19 June. This time it falls at the weekend; some countries move the day off to a weekday when that happens. Also in June 2027: Sustainable Gastronomy Day (18 Jun), Teachers’ Day (United Kingdom) (19 Jun) and World Refugee Day (20 Jun). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.
