About World Cities Day

World Cities Day is one of the international days on the United Nations list. The UN uses these days to draw attention to an issue and to what people around the world are doing about it.

In 2026 it falls on a Saturday; in 2027 it’s on Sunday 31 October, and in 2028 on Tuesday 31 October. This time it falls at the weekend; some countries move the day off to a weekday when that happens. Also in October 2026: Halloween (31 Oct), Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security (31 Oct) and National Unity Day (India) (31 Oct). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.

How we work out the date
It’s on 31 October every year, as set by the United Nations.
