About World Chess Day

World Chess Day is one of the international days on the United Nations list. The UN uses these days to draw attention to an issue and to what people around the world are doing about it.

In 2027 it falls on a Tuesday; in 2028 it’s on Thursday 20 July, and in 2029 on Friday 20 July. Also in July 2027: International Moon Day (20 Jul), Colombian Independence Day (20 Jul) and National Fortune Cookie Day (20 Jul). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.

How we work out the date
It’s on 20 July every year, as set by the United Nations.
