About International Day for Biological Diversity

International Day for Biological Diversity is one of the international days on the United Nations list. The UN uses these days to draw attention to an issue and to what people around the world are doing about it.

In 2027 it falls on a Saturday; in 2028 it’s on Monday 22 May, and in 2029 on Tuesday 22 May. This time it falls at the weekend; some countries move the day off to a weekday when that happens. Also in May 2027: International Tea Day (21 May), National Maritime Day (22 May) and World Goth Day (22 May). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.

How we work out the date
It’s on 22 May every year, as set by the United Nations.
