Arabic Language Day is one of the international days on the United Nations list. The UN uses these days to draw attention to an issue and to what people around the world are doing about it.

In 2026 it falls on a Friday; in 2027 it’s on Saturday 18 December, and in 2028 on Monday 18 December. Because it’s a Friday this time, wherever it’s a day off it makes a long weekend of at least three days. Also in December 2026: Wright Brothers Day (17 Dec), International Migrants Day (18 Dec) and Qatar National Day (18 Dec).
