About World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day is one of the international days on the United Nations list. The UN uses these days to draw attention to an issue and to what people around the world are doing about it.

In 2026 it falls on a Tuesday; in 2027 it’s on Wednesday 1 December, and in 2028 on Friday 1 December. Also in December 2026: Great Union Day (1 Dec), Eat a Red Apple Day (1 Dec) and Teachers’ Day (Panama) (1 Dec). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.

How we work out the date
It’s on 1 December every year, as set by the United Nations.
