About Icelandic Language Day
Icelandic Language Day is an observance (marked, but not a day off) in Iceland.
In 2026 it falls on a Monday; in 2027 it’s on Tuesday 16 November, and in 2028 on Thursday 16 November. Because it’s a Monday this time, wherever it’s a day off it makes a long weekend of at least three days. Also in November 2026: International Day for Tolerance (16 Nov), International Day of the Mediterranean Diet (16 Nov) and National Fast Food Day (16 Nov). From this page you can add it to your calendar, get an email before it, share the countdown, or show it full screen.
How we work out the date
